Woodford 2006-2007
You are here: Home > Photography > Woodford 2006-2007I've just gotten back from the Woodford Folk Festival. I missed last year's festival because I was still travelling, so it was nice to be back. As usual, pictures are a poor substitute for being there, as the festival is quite a feast for all the senses, not just the visual.
The first couple of days were pretty wet, and so the usual mud was about. By the end of the week things had cleared up fairly nicely, and the dust was upon us as usual. All in all though, the weather was pretty damn nice compared to certain 45+ degree festivals of the past.
As always, there were too many fantastic acts playing to go on about them individually. Some standouts were Totally Gourdgeous (and various members thereof), Martin Pearson, Monsieur Camembert, and the Sensitive New Age Cowpersons (who are sadly now disbanding). The new year's eve rhythm festival at the Amphitheatre was also excellent.
The fire event was completely baffling - even more so than usual. It was hilariously bad at times, and the giant marionettes were quite frighteningly hideous (alas, they didn't go up in flames - but it's probably good that they didn't, as it would have given the children nightmares). All I'll say is that perhaps they need more cohesive artistic direction in the future, and a table where not everyone's ideas are equally valid. Some ideas are, after all, crap. :)
To end on a positive note though, it was, as always, a nice fire, and a great atmosphere all round. If you've never been to Woodford, and you love music, you should check it out.
P.S. Pictures of the 2007-2008 Woodford Folk Festival are up now!
